The peace symbol, in its proper upright position is a depiction of the Kabbalic Sephiroth or Tree of Life. Unfortunately, we've been given false information about the peace symbol as the current upside down position emanates the opposite energy of peace, i.e. war and death. The modern version of the peace symbol was sketched by Gerald Herbert Holtom on February 21, 1958 for the British nuclear disarmament movement. It was a sketch that he later came to regret. In a letter to Hugh Brock, editor of Peace News, Holtom wrote, "I was in despair. Deep despair. I drew myself: the representative of an individual in despair, with palms outstretched outwards and downwards."

Holtom eventually came to sincerely regret the symbol of despair and wanted the symbol to be inverted upwards--in fact, for the remainder of his life he would only draw the upright peace symbol and his last dying wish was that the upright version be placed on his tombstone. Unfortunately, his dying wish was ignored.

The same downward peace symbol was used by Hitler's Third Panzer Division from 1941 to 1945. But this was before Holtom's famous sketch by nearly 20 years. So where did Hitler get the symbol? Well, as it turns out, another emperor used the downward peace symbol 1900 years before Hitler. His name was Nero.

The ancient version of the downward peace symbol originated from a depiction of the upside down crucifixion of St. Peter by the Roman Emperor Nero (54-68 A.D.). In fact, it was known as Nero's Cross for centuries and was adapted into satanic rituals. And finally, when we display the peace sign with our fingers, do we not form them in an upward "V" position? It is as if our fingers are making way for an invisible vertical line, symbolic of the spiritual path or Tree of Life.
