Pallas Athena, the ancient Greek goddess of wisdom, strategic warfare, crafts, and justice, is often referred to simply as Athena. Her name, “Pallas,” means “brandisher,” possibly derived from a companion she accidentally killed. In honor of her, she adopted her name and used her flayed skin to create her protective Aegis shield. Athena is the patron of Athens and is symbolized by the owl, olive tree, and spear. She embodies intellect, courage, and civilized warfare and is depicted in art and literature as a warrior goddess, protector, and source of guidance. Beyond her warrior persona, Pallas Athena also represents the transformative power of the Goddess or Sacred Feminine in dismantling toxic patriarchal systems and fostering a more just and wise world for all.
